Curriculum, homework policy, behavior policy
Homework- I will be sending home a homework folder every Monday. It will have a weekly spelling list and homework assignments. The homework folder should be returned on Thursday morning. Your child should keep the spelling list at home, so he/she may study for the test on Friday.
Spelling- Your child will receive a list every week. We will have the test on Friday unless it is a short week then we will have it on Thursday. Your child will be responsible for learning his/her words. We will work on them some during class but they need to study at home.
Reading-Your child will be reading in small groups and large groups. We will be focusing on fluency and comprehension skills plus other reading skills. It is important that your child reads every night.
Math- This year will be working on many challenging math skills. I will be introducing multiplication in the next few weeks. It is important that you and your child practice their facts often. I will be giving weekly tests.
Science- we will be discussing plants, chemicals, life cycles, and sound.
S. Studies- Communities
Behavior- It is important that parent and teacher work as a team. I want every student to be successful in class. I expect every child to work to their full potential. Your child will be expected to participate in class and turn in classroom assignments. Your child will be given daily assignments and is expected to have everything turned in on Friday. If it is not turned in on Friday, your student will receive a zero for that assignment. I keep a chart that records every time your student turns in work. They are able to keep track of what they need to complete. Students are given extra time daily to catch up and on Fridays they will have extra time and no new assignments. Students who complete all their work by Friday will be rewarded with free time while others are given the extra time to finish work. Any student who does not follow directions in class will have recess taken away or a note home.
